Practical 12 Beowulf Writing Assignment

This assignment will be due THURSDAY, 2/14

First Writing Assignment Notes
Your task (located on page 48 in the textbook) is to compare (describe similarities) and contrast (describe differences) Beowulf and your choice of modern hero.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Provide an introductory sentence in your first paragraph that explains what you’ll be talking about (e.g., “Beowulf and Batman are two heroes who have distinct similarities and differences in their powers, enemies, and values.”)
Avoid “announcements” (such as “I am going to talk about” or “This essay will talk about”).
Arrange your first two paragraphs by subject (your choice of hero in the first paragraph, Beowulf in the second paragraph).
Remember: you should have QUOTATIONS from Beowulf as well as relevant examples from your other source.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your third paragraph should include a general overview of the differences between Anglo-Saxon and modern-day values.
It should also include a concluding statement.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your response should be at least 300 words long and use standard, formal English; be sure to proofread.

Information about your hero: _________/10
Information about Beowulf: ___________/10
Information about their culture/values _________/10
Conventions/Formalities  (Minimal spelling/grammar errors, etc.) __________/10
                                                                                                                                                                                = 40 Points
